(part 1)
“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” Acts 13:47

FRIENDS! WE ARE MOVING TO GERMANY! AH!
(okay from the top)
In January, Heyward and I began talking and praying about long term missions work. With no idea where or what it would look like I decided to ‘Just Google It’. Shortly after clicking through websites I found Greater Europe Missions (GEM) – and 3 interviews later we were invited to join GEM in Kandern, Germany for 3 months starting September 15th.
Soooooooo What are we doing there? Great question.
Heyward:
Heyward will be working with a subgroup of GEM called eDOT (Electronic Discipleship Outreach Training) which “provides technological solutions for nationals, local ministries and missionaries”. So, obviously if you know Heyward, you know that this makes sense. One of the major draws of GEM was eDOT. Where I (Becca) could easily find a medical missions group to be a part of, ‘Software Engineer Missions Trip’ isn’t exactly a thing.
So through eDOT, Heyward will be working with a team in Kandern developing websites for local churches and apps that translate the Bible into different languages.
Becca:
I will be working with the Refugee population of Kandern and differing medical needs throughout the community. – I don’t have too many specifics yet as these needs aren’t typically planned in advance, but holy moley I’m so excited! My heart has always been with vulnerable populations and being able to help families as they attempt to assimilate into a completely different culture/language/country – well, I really can’t think of something I would rather do more.
SO MANY QUESTIONS! Trust me I also have them, but hopefully I can answer a few for you.
House? – Selling it!! (under contract!)
Pets? – My GRACIOUS parents have not-so-volunteered to watch our 6 pets.
Stuff? – selling it and storing it!
What comes after?? – Who knows, but we will let you know!!
